Celebrating 10 Years
Current Events at Your Bluffton Club
Bluffton athletes and strategists play to win at Boys & Girls Club State Games
Some 300 students came from all over the state to participate in the annual games. Some —like those from the Upstate —traveled many hours to participate and camped out at the Hilton Head Club overnight. For the prior three years the roving tournament had been held at the Bluffton Club. The tournament is an opportunity for the kids to get exposure to other clubs, while learning the skills and maturity to win. Congratulation to the thirty-four members of the Bluffton Club team for winning the First Place Trophy and capturing the roving Tournament Cup!
Belfair Donors "Go Whole Hog"
Standing in front of their, ahem, “guest of honor” — their words — are Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton barbecue fundraiser hosts (front row, from left) Paul Stevens, Angel Christenson and Steve Christenson; and (back row) Bunch Singer, Peggy Stevens, Barb Singer Pidge James and John James. Four Belfair couples — high bidders on a barbecue for 100 at the Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton’s Feb. 23 benefit, “Hollywood Comes to Bluffton” — decided on the spot to use their new barbecue party to raise more money for the Bluffton club. They sent out invitations requesting a minimum donation of $50 per person and the response by their friends was so great that Broken Arrow Barbecue Team, the barbecue’s award-winning donor, offered to cook for 150. Held April 8 at the home of Barb and Bunch Singer, the event raised $9,500 for the club’s youth-development work.
